The true cost of forgetting to take prescription medications.

Working in the Social Care profession, I have more than a passing interest in health care provision in England. One area of personal interest is ‘Emergency Readmissions’ to hospital, which as ‘The Health Foundation’ reported in 2018: ‘There has been an increase in the absolute number of emergency readmissions in recent years, which highlights the growing and increasingly complex nature of demand faced by the NHS’. The varied reasons for this increase are well reported, but as a practitioner, the revelation that 65% of adult responders in a study conducted by ‘Lets Take Care Of It’ – ‘Simply forget to take their prescribed medication’ perhaps warrants further investigation.
