As an avid fan of the Space Race, always sad to hear that another member of that elite club of Apollo Moonwalkers has passed away. Al Bean is perhaps most famous for ‘flicking the SCE to AUX’ switch during the launch of Apollo 12 on the 14 November 1969, after the Saturn V rocket was hit by lightning. An act by Bean which perhaps saved the mission.
